19th Century Brass Mantle Boots

A very nice collection of English Brass mantle boots/shoes which would typically date from the mid to late 19th century (1850-1880).  Sometimes presented as a gift/ keepsake intended to bring newly weds 'good luck'. Beautifully and lovingly handmade from a time when limited resources and often great hardship gave rise to inventive, creative and extremely well made artifacts such as these 'Lucy' Victorian mantle ornaments. Many were produced in the North East area (Newcastle) of England. A fabulous example of English folk art
