Probably dating to about 1830 is this exceptional dental tooth extractor, 'tooth item' by maker John Weiss of of London. John Weiss & Son were London based surgical instrument manufacturers during the late 18th century through to the 19th century and still operate under the name John Weiss & Son LTD to the present time. 

John Weiss founded his company in 1787, of Austrian decent, his skill as a master cutler and instrument maker soon earned him the well deserved title as a craftsman of great repute! 

Possibly one of the best examples of its type, the Ebony handle with chequered detail and makers name Weiss being a particularly nice feature. All is in fine order and probably still operates as intended but is offered as a historical display collectors piece only!
