Dutch Brass Tobacco Box

History:

A large Dutch brass tobacco box with charming rural scene and engraved sentiment on the lid.in old Dutch language "ik hoij het land met verstand" meaning "I know the land with reason".  Underneath are the words " ik sneij het land al met de hand" meaning "I already cut the land by hand".  Probable date to the middle of the 18th century, about 1750.  Very good colour and condition, lid fits nice and tight.
