Edwardian Cast Iron Weighing Scales

A very rare and fine example in the original untouched condition  of an Edwardian (1901-1910) brass, ceramic and cast iron weighing scales by W&T Avery of Birmingham Royal Warrant.
This example is made nearly entirely from solid brass, the column support, beams, scales and counter weight are of exquisite brass detailing, with a cast iron support base. Unusually, in these examples, is a superb original ceramic scale plate measuring 11" across bearing the Royal Crest Centrally "MAKERS BY ROYAL WARRANT OF APPOINTMENT TO H.M. THE KING - W & T AVERY LTD".
Stamped W&T. Avery Ltd of Birmingham TO WEIGH 20 LB.
Dimensions: 34 inch Height.
Wear- all parts are intact and in great condition, wear is consistent with age and use. All parts are left unpolished to retain its natural aged look.
Originally for shop use, these scales would have been situated on counter fronts for use in weighing anything from cheese or meats and are increasingly hard to find in such good condition. Overall, a stunning decorative object that would look great either as a statement piece in your home or shop.
