History
A superb possible Anglo/Zulu War Period 'Knobkerrie' (War Club).
The Anglo/Zulu War was a decisive six-month war which took place between January and July 1879. The first significant battle taking place at Island Lawana & Rorkes Drift in the south of Africa. The overall result of the wars being a British victory over the Zulu's.
This particular Knobkerrie is fashioned from an African hardwood root ball and the shaft has a leather grip applied at its mid point to shorten its swing. The club has a most wonderful time acquired colour and patina. The root ball being particularly note worthy.
Although the Zulu War connection is speculative, this superb African Fighting Club represents a genuine period unrefined example and is a superb collectors piece!
